Music
videos within “metal-core” portray a character or narrative that is often angry
and/or depressed. This would not be seen in more mainstream genres such as
Pop/RnB. This narrative either stays this way throughout the video or is
sorted just before or at the end. Some videos, such as the Asking Alexandria
short “Through Sin and Self-destruction”, are put together to form one overall
narrative. This is used when there is a strong narrative or a narrative that
has a strong meaning to the band/artist. These styles of videos often include
spoken dialogue or a lead up towards the song actually starting. Titles are
sometimes used as well to introduce the band, song title, album name and
sometimes the record label. The videos below are examples of narratives, Disturbed's song "Inside The Fire" begins with a message from lead singer David Draiman explaining how the video touches upon a sensitive subject and urges people to get help if they or anyone they know is suicidal as his girlfriend committed suicide tears before. This style of video also acts as a warning for people and lets them know they are not alone.
